Profit Sharing

For Associates not on individual bonus plans, BIW shares in its success in the form of a discretionary bonus. Profit Sharing is based on 3 factors: length of employment with BIW, eligible salary, and BIW’s success.

Provincial and Extended Health Care

$10 per prescription deductible (Generic)

Coinsurance: 100% in Canada, 100% Emergency Out of province/Canada (60 days), 100% drugs, Pay Direct Drug Card, 100% Semi-Private Hospital, 100% others, Paramedical subject to $500 per year maximum per practitioner.

Dental Care

No deductible applies. Coinsurance: 80% Basic Services with 6 months recall, 50% Major Restorative Services, 50% Orthodontic Services. Maximum Benefit: $1,500 annual combined maximum for Basic Services and Major Restorative Services.

$ 2,000-lifetime maximum for Orthodontic Services for dependent children.                             

Vision Care

Vision Care: $200/24 months – 100% Reimbursement.

Life Insurance

BI WORLDWIDE provides basic life and accidental death & dismemberment at 2.0x annual earnings, rounded to the next higher $1,000 (if not already a multiple of). Maximum life is $150,000. Non-evidence Maximum is $100,000.

Dependent Life Insurance

BI WORLDWIDE provides life insurance for your spouse at the value of $10,000 and children at the value of 5,000.  You as the associate are the beneficiary and the insurance is payable upon the death of a dependent.

Short-Term Disability (Weekly Indemnity Plan)

Weekly indemnity coverage protects you should you suffer an illness or an injury that will keep you out of work for an extended period of time. The benefit will start after being out of work for 7 days and provide you with 60% of your usual pay (up to $1,000/week) and can continue up to 17 weeks. This is an associate-paid benefit through a payroll deduction; cost is dependent on your pay and age. 

Long-Term Disability

Long-term disability coverage protects you should you suffer an illness or an injury that will keep you out of work for an extended period of time. Benefits begin after being unable to work for 17 weeks and provide

66% of your usual pay (up to $7,500). This is an associate-paid benefit through a payroll deduction; cost is dependent on your pay and age. 

Award Points

Award points earned can be redeemed for merchandise, travel, event tickets and more.

Throughout the year, BIW hosts events for its Associates.

Bravo Social Recognition & Incentive System

Bravo is BIW’s social recognition and incentive system and is used by all Associates to recognize each other for any number of behaviours that support our work for customers and exemplify our values. Recognition may include Award Points or sweepstakes entries.

Dress Code

Associates may wear jeans to work every day. We do, however, dress in business or business casual attire when interviewing, meeting with suppliers/vendors or hosting or attending customer meetings both outside and inside of BIW.

Vacation Days

Regular full-time Associates (Exempt and Non-Exempt) will accrue vacation based on their years of service with BIW Canada, according to the following schedule:

10  Days in the first year of employment

15  Days after 1 year of continuous service

17 Days after 5 years of continuous service

19 Days after 10 years of continuous service

21 after 15 years of continuous service

23  Days after 20 years of continuous service

25  Days after 25 years of continuous service

Personal Days

To provide Associates paid time off to use at their own discretion for family emergencies, sick time for themselves or family members, personal business, or doctor/dental appointments, etc.

Associates accrue with service five (5) Personal Days per year, at the rate of 3.33 hours per month.

Personal Days cannot be carried over from year to year and have no cash value. and Associate will not receive any pay for accrued but unused Personal Days at the time his or her employment terminates, regardless of the reason for termination.

Personal Days do not roll over to the following year.

Flexible Work Arrangements

Work from home:  Option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays if your position and schedule permits you to be away from the office.

Work from anywhere: Option to work from any location up to 4 weeks per calendar year if your position and the work you do permits it.

Summer of Love

From Victoria Day through Labour Day BIW celebrates the Summer of Love. During these months there is a relaxed dress code, along with other fun activities like barbecues, and other surprise events. Associates are also given additional time off to enjoy the summer months.
